Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is already November and our expectations for the close of the semester are high. We strongly encourage students to get the intervention they might need to catch up or stay caught up during our remediation time as well as preparing to be successful on their upcoming benchmarks. Student’s attendance at remediation will weigh heavy in the decisions of our audit status and retention committees.

Fall Sports will officially come to an end in just a few short weeks. Football has had a very good season making it to the playoffs for the second year in a row. They won their first-round game and played the 2nd round game on November 1st. Volleyball has been doing very well this year and are currently ranked 6th. They will compete at the state tournament on November 8th in Scottsdale.

Our winter sports begin in November and here at The Fort we all know that means basketball, which we all get excited to see start. Our basketball teams’ schedules can be found in this issue of our newsletter as well as Facebook and our district calendar. Come out and support our teams from our Junior High 7th grade all the way up to our High School Varsity. Remember we want to positively encourage them to do well and show our Apache sportsmanship and pride.

Here at the Fort we like to provide opportunities and incentives for our student’s to be successful. We are fortunate that our Johnson O’Malley (JOM) Indian Education Parent Advisory Committee provides us with the financial resources to help continue to do that. JOM provides monthly incentive rewards to our students who maintain perfect attendance. It provides a party for the class that has the least tardy students each month. It provides funding for cultural field trips that we could not otherwise be able to send our students. It also provides reward field trips to those students that have maintained good citizenship, behavior, and academics over the course of the year.

Finally, our next Open House/Parent Night will be held on November 20th from 4:30 until 6:30. We will have a meeting for all high school students that will be playing Basketball during the winter sport season from 6:30 until 7:00. We will also be serving a meal for all who attend. We hope to see you all there.
